1. Practice Circulation Skills
Carry out all routine circulation procedures with some assistance
2. Shadow Nancy through ILL procedures
3. Complete 2 Modules in Library Foundations in IALearns
Weeks 5 - 6
1. Learn more circulation and catalog procedures
Study Apollo Manual Sections 1 - 3
a. Be able to retrieve accurate and targeted search using “More Search Options”
b. Be able to log into your own account and use all patron facing functions
c. Be able to do routine check-out functions
d. Be able to place book on “reserve”
2. Study Circulation Policies
3. Complete 5 modules in Intro to Public Services in IALearns
4. Study Mission and Values Policies
5. Begin working alone by eighth week

Weeks 7 - 8
1. Learn more circulation and catalog procedures
Study Apollo Manual Sections 4 - 7
a. Be able to register new patron with minimal assistance
b. Be able to process ILL with minimal assistance

2. Study Circulation Policies
3. Complete 5 modules in Intro to Public Services in IALearns
4. Study Mission and Values Policies
5. Begin working alone by eighth week

Weeks 9 - 16
1. Become proficient at routine circulation procedures
a. Carry out all routine circulation procedures without assistance
2. Master registering new patrons
a. Be able to accurately complete all steps of new patron registration
3. Know and follow Circulation Policies
4. Know and follow Mission and Values Policies
5. Become competent in ILL Basics
a. Be able to enter new ILL borrow request
b. Be able to process incoming and outgoing deliveries
c. Be able to check out ILL items to patrons
d. Be able to respond to new ILL loan requests
6. Complete 2 modules in We’re All Tech Librarians in IALearns
7. Complete 4 modules in Library Law in IALearns
8. Learn processing procedures for books and DVDs

Weeks 16-24
1. Be able to do all processing of books & DVDs
2. Complete 4 modules in Collection Management in IALearns
3. Complete Introduction to Cataloging
4. Begin doing copy cataloging of books & DVDs by week 24.
5. Become familiar with HelpNow online tutoring service.
6. Become familiar with all online resources available through the State Library of Iowa.
7. Learn to enter events in WhoFi calendar.
8. Learn to create Reading Challenges in BeanStack.
Additional areas of training may be added depending on the needs of the library and/or interests of the individual in the position.
